This is a one-of-a-kind- collector\'s vintage hat from the amazing 1940s\'! The hat is made of beautiful black felt. The conical crown is indented at the top. The very large brim is made with 2 pieces, which allows the brim to be slightly downturned to add drama to the design. There is a black grosgrain band around the crown which ends in a bow at the back. The amazing feature of this hat is the magnificent feather \"parrot\", which sits on the crown, displaying the tail feathers around the front of the hat. There\'s an elastic band attached to the inside of the hat to keep it in place. This hat belongs in a museum. Label: NEW YORK CREATION 22 + Store Label: STROUSS HERSHBERG\'S The New York Dress Institute was formed in 1941 by fashion publicist Eleanor Lambert as a joint venture between the clothing manufacturers of New York City & the ILGWU. The label was created by a group of well-known designers who wanted to remain anonymous & wanted to support the New York Creation label & keep it competitive with French styles of the era. The label is small, white and blue & most of the time it states the hat size…22 or 23 This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, furs, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age. Mannequin not for sale.
